  • Windows 2000 Professional Problems!

    hi,
I have a W2k Prof system. i have had no problems with it,
i have connected to internet before.
but after a gap(maybe a month) i connected it to the internet
again and i have strange problems, yahoo messenger crashes
then windows media player 7 crashes,
    mostly some applications crash.
i had a look at drwatson log and it showed pid=some no
and appln name=windows media player and a long
    list.
i have spybot, antivir and outpost firewall running.
    i made a blunder - i closed outpost for a few
    minutes once.
It does not have any service packs installed.
how do i go about rectifying the system?
    Thanks in advance to all.
    Cheers,
    Spidey

    Re: Windows 2000 Professional Problems!

First off get the machine patched for the latest security updates from MS.

Ensure all your AV, Spyware detectors are upto date.

Run a virus scan on your system and delete anything it finds.

Run a spyware scan on your syatem and again delete al it finds.

Lets us know of the outcome.
