    HI Guys,

I need some help in configuring a Fax on Windows XP Pro. Is there anyone here have configured this beofore ?

Actually, I'm planning to configure it for the Office use to keep one Machine as a Fax Server that will receive the whole Faxes coming to the Company in this server. As well as the outgoing Faxes also, Any recommendations or suggestions in this issue ?

many thanx in advance for your great help guys.

Confused. Are you wanting to use the fax app in XP or do you want something else like Winfax Pro?

Hi biggles77, what I want is to use the Built-in Fax in Windows XP. If I'm going to configure it, do I have to attache Fax Device to the WorkStatin also? or the Modem will do it by itself ?

        yaniv, Thanks for the info.

Internal or external fax/modem works fine. Although I don't like internals, I do use them in this case. Means the (L) user doesn't have to remember to turn it back on after the cleaners have unplugged it.

Thanks for your info. What about the Fax Device? Is it mandatory for External Fax Device to be attached to the P.C? or the Fax Componenet without Exteral Fax Attached will works fine without it?

            Thanks,

Re: Fax on Window XP ?

???????? If the fax device is NOT attached to the PC, then me thinks it ain't going to work. Not sure what you mean in the second half of your question.

Re: Fax on Window XP ?

What I mean is, does the Fax Device has to be attached to the P.C for Sending and Receiving Faxes?

Or just the P.C itself will manage this issue?

                1. ISDN Fax Line -----> P.C Modem -----> Fax Consol Configurations.

                2. ISDN Fax Line -----> P.C Modem -----> Fax Machine Attached to the P.C ----> Fax Consol Configurations.

Which one is the right one will be?

I hope I'm more clearer now.

Re: Fax on Window XP ?

Unless you have a requirement to send actual paper fax's, why bother with the fax machine? It's unnecessary if all you want to do is send and receive from the desktop....

Re: Fax on Window XP ?

aha, this what I want it. But if I want to send a real paper through Fax, the Fax has to be attached to the P.C as I want to keep a copy in the P.C itself for future reference. When I send a Real Paper Fax, does the Fax will be appeared in the Sent Items Fax Consol?

                    Thanks,

Re: Fax on Window XP ?

A fax machine is attached to a phone line, NOT a PC. A fax/modem is an internal or external device attached (or inserted) in/to a PC. There are 2 ways to send a fax from a hardcopy. Put it through a fax machine or scan it to a PC and fax it through there.

From your question, if I understand it, is that when you send a hardcopy you want a softcopy saved on the PC. A device that does what you want may be available but I don't know of one.
