  • Network Printing Issue

    Hi Guys,

We have small network with 50 nodes on a domain name and one printer attached with a Windows XP machine as i seen on the windows xp machine when System Tools> Shared Folder>Session

when the Session FULL (max 10 user/connection) then no body can send a print, the only resolution is to close the session then they send a print.

Is there any way to increase the session upto 100.

    Regard,

    Saeed

    Re: Network Printing Issue

Get a network print server and connect directly to that by IP
Alternatively connect the printer to a server, so you will not be limited

The 10 connection limit is hard coded into XP so you cannot legally change it

Ask Microsoft, but I suspect it is to stop people using a desktop OS as a cheap replacement for a server one

Buy a Server. You can get a cheap box with OEM O/S preinstalled really cheap. I believe eBay has Servers with OEM COA still on the case, also very cheap.

            Hi,

            Thanks for your useful comments.

I think let me go for server installation.

            Once again Thanks.

With a Server you will then be able to backup all their data into 1 location. Will make life a lot easier!
