  • Rename computers

    Hi,

    I would like to rename my entire computers name in my org at a click
    I have 98 / 2000 / XP OS
    If anyone can pinpoint me to a tool who dose is, it will be grate

    You can try to use NETDOM in Win 2000/XP. I dont think that you have tool for 9x systems.

      If i have you correctly, you can just do the following:

      Right click my computer->properties->computer name tab -> change.

      for a client system this is all you have to do. as far as command line utils like netdom and rendom, this is only usefull for a domain controler, because its not this easy to rename a domain controler.

          This is my first thought too when I learned about "ren dom" to rename a domain controler, I guess if you look at it like renaming a domain from California.lab, to SouthernCalifiornia.lab it makes sence in terms of expanding to the company, or selling it to some one else who wants to change the name, but other then these type of reasons I cannot think of any good reason.
