  • GIF files problems

workstations : XP pro SP1 (SP2 not yet deployed)
    proxy server : ISA server
    browser : IE6

for all websites the following happens :
    - gif files are shown on first page view
    - using F5 to refresh :-> gif files are no longer shown
    - using ctrl+F5 :-> gif files are back

can this be a configuration error in ISA as it happens on all workstations ?

If I recall, XP has some issues with GIF images not rendering correctly. Try installing SP2 or read this KB article.

My home PC had this issue at one time. I did a clean install when SP2 and released and I haven't had it since.

It is indeed a wierd problem. I tried all manners of fixes, KB articles and nothing worked - well unless you count a clean install .

If you do a search through Google groups you'll find many postings related to this issue.

          gif issue

What i can find on Goolge doesn't help much.

I think we have to look at ISA server, if i connect a workstation directly to the internet (using ADSL or CABLE) there is no problem.

As soon as the workststation uses the proxy we have the problem.

Can this be a problem with caching setting or a security setting ?

          workstations are in a network
SP2 is not allowed for deployment yet

is it with all sites or just a few?
maybe clearing the cache can help.

              reply

              yes for all sites
clearing the cache works until next refresh (as soon as the page has been loaded once, the problem returns)
