  • How to block My Network Places PC access in workgroup

A buddy of mine has a simple workgroup setup. Since all the users can access each other PC through My Network Places, or a UNC path, how can this be stopped.

Sorry if this question is too simple.

    turn off the shares ?
    use authentication ?

that's about all. Without a way to enforce group policy (which contrary to it's name, won't work on a workgroup) you can't prevent the other computers from using 'my network places'

So the only other way to do it is turn off sharing..then they can still use my network places, but not see anything

uhm.. there's a simple way to do it iirc.. i'll just need to hunt around for you a bit today..

one way would be to enter the properties of the network interface and remove the tick from file and print sharing.
