I'm getting this "Generic Host Win 32 Error" on my computer when it's idle and when i take the machine remotely from another PC. After the error appears, the computer hangs and i have to restart the PC.

    Re: generic host error

    update your virus protection.
    run sfc /scannow
    run hijack this.

Sounds conveniently like a virus or nasty-ware to me...

what do you mean "take the machine remotely"

could you tell me exactly what's happening, what process you're following to generate the issue, how long the issue has been occuring ?

                What firewall did you install???

Seems strange to me that this would happen.

                      Thats my thinking.

There still seems to bea root cause that will rear its head again eventually.

may be firewall blocking the traffic of inbound /outbound application that would be one of the reson. what do you think sir?

                          Re: generic host error

Your firewall is blocking something thats for sure.

Can you check the logs on the firewall for attempts out.

Is the machine fully patched up?? Not just the one patch you mention but them all from MS??

                            yesss

I have found logs of outlook express and messenger whichis creating traffic.I think this systems data has infected with virus.

I will do one thing. I can format this hdd right now then i will check without firewall software.

                            thanks.
