Unable to browse internet or telnet to port 80

I updated a Windows XP Pro PC to XP3 and did all other pending updates. After reboot i was unable to browse the internet. I remove SP3 and all updates installed that day. I also unistalled CISCO vpn client and Symantec End Point protecting. I am able to browse network and connect AOL AIM, but unable to surf internet. I can get to https sites but not http sites. I am unable to telnet on port 80. Anyone have any ideas. thanks

Is this on one PC or many?
How do you connect to the internet?
How do you get your IP address?

Re: Unable to browse internet or telnet to port 80

I take it you already have checked that you are not using a proxy with a different port and also no firewall is blocking the traffic.
You could try resetting the TCP/IP stack

            netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

            And Winsock

            netsh winsock reset catalog
