  • MSIE home page for default user

    Hi,

I need to create several accounts on Win XP SP3 box and all of them must have MSIE set to a custom home page.
Where can I change the default home page that will be displayed after user accounts are created? At this time I am not setting it up using GP, need to do it directly on Win XP SP3 box.

    Thank you

You will need to create an account, log on and customise settings, log off to save the profile, then copy this to the "default user" profile

Then any new accounts will pick up the custom settings

      You could try:

      HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page

as a guess from the registry tip here?

      http://www.onecomputerguy.com/registry_tips.htm

Not sure if that works as I can't test at the moment.

Set the home page, export to a REG file and set it to run in the logon script with the /s option. GPO can be set to allow the Users to run REG files and once they have been installed, GPO can be changed back.
