  • Please H E L P Can't Access To A folder

I had on my PC a user account with password.
After a virus attack, i had to re-install winXP above the previous windows folder. The folder that matches to the account has remain on the folder "documents and settings", but when i click it it says that i can't access to this folder.
What can i do to access to my folder?

A friend of mine had the same problem on his home computer.

Basiclally Right click the folder > properties > security > advanced > Owner > take ownership > make sure you give the new owner full access.

on win xp pro not connected to a domain you dont get the security tab, so you have to go into tool > folder options > view > untick 'use simple file sharing'

on windows xp home you have to boot the machine in safe mode, then right click the folder > properties and you get the security options
