    HI

I have recently re-installed Windows Xp Pro on my HP Laptop using the HP restore CD's that were provided.

The problem I have got is I don't seem to have a default Hardware Profile anymore.

I need to create a new Hardware Profile, but an existing Hardware profile does not exist, so I can't copy and create a new one.

Any help on this is much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Re: Hardware Profiles

You must have at least one!
Go into My Computer -- Properties -- Hardware tab
    Click Hardware Profiles button
You should see "Profile 1 (Current)" -- select then click COPY

If you don'y have that, tell us (picture please) what you can see in Hardware Profiles

        Re: Hardware Profiles

I wonder if your problem Gaurav N is related to WGA?
I think WGA takes an Inventory of the Hardware profile on Boot up.
Try to activate windows again and see if it fixes the issue.

            Interesting....
What is your MoBo and what BIOS version did you go from/to?

ip_xpuser, has this thread helped your problem? If not, Gaurav N posts, which appear to be a hi-jack, shall be split off to their own thread. Thanks.
