  • Trouble with console/admin of remote desktop

I usually use "Remote Desktops" - management console instead of "Remote Desktop Connection" because "Remote Desktops" can manage many windows connections easily

Now I just upgrade to Windows service pack 3 with new version of "Remote Desktop Connection". It uses parameter "admin" and does not use "console" more.

So now I can't use "Remote Desktops" with main session

That's correct. The only way around it is to uninstall SP3 or use another program like Royal TS, etc.

Hi, I've not tried royal TS yet. I'll have a look.
The one I normally use is visionapp, it's a freeware one too.

The admin switch is the replacement of the console switch in Windows 2008. Because Windows XP sp3 is more their to support itself with Windows 2008 (think about the NAP client for example which is a only supported from Windows XP SP3 and up) I assume they also replaced the Remote Desktops.

You might try re-installing the adminpack of windows 2003.
It might give you the "old" remote desktops back. It's worth a try but I didn't tested it.
The freeware apps looks fine either. It's up to you
