  • Read Only attribute

I noticed today that folders on 2003 are set to Read Only, likewise on XP. Tried to turn it off, ut it failed.

Just curious as to why this is.

The Read Only applies to Share permissions. If you want to "remove" the Read Only permission, set the permission to Full Control (Allow). NTFS permissions can then be the controlling factor. I would be cautious about changing the permission if you are only using FAT32.

Ok, I've changed the share to Domain Users Full Access, then locked it down with NTFS permissions.

      Thx
