It is listed as possible therefore buy the upgrade CD and run it in Windows.

You need to get yourself an XP Pro Cd with License.

Put it in your pc & you will get an upgrade screen.

Re: How to upgrade from xp home edition to professional

        thanks for replys

i think those CDs just install xp pro from scratch and leaves the programs and settings...and thats all

maybe in an example i can express what i mean better ...

as u know , u have seen windows server 2k3 R2 cd which just adds some extra tools which windows server 2k3 doesnt have by itself.

<< so R2 CD doesnt install any windows>>

        now

do we have something which installs the tools and services that xp home doesnt have (Like IIS,NTFS Permission, etc) ???

        Thanks

No, honestly, it is an UPGRADE, so your settings are left intact. There is no other way of converting XP Home into XP Pro

              That's NOT an upgrade.

While that may enable some of the features of XP Pro that are disabled in XP Home, your best bet would always be to follow the route that is officially supported (and therefore guaranteed to be entirely legal) and purchase an upgrade licence.

I have installed XP Pro over XP Home without any loss of functionality on installed applications, just by inserting the Pro CD in a running XP home and selecting the upgrade option. Enter the XP Pro product key when asked.
