    Am getting an error while trying to install MSDE
    "Please use SAPWD switch to supply the same. Refer to readme for more details. Setup will now exit." I tried the work around provided by Microsoft Article 322336 'How to: Verify and Change the MSDE System Administrator Passord'. Only to receive an error in the Command Prompt that SQL server does not exist or access denied"

    Please help

    At what point does this error occur? Have you tried another PC? I've installed MSDE on a numerous occasions and on many differnet Windows OSes and never seen this, sorry.

      MSDE does not have a nice GUI install wizard. All setup parameters need to be set in Setup.ini before you run the setup.

      This is a sample setup.ini

      [Options]
      SecurityMode=SQL
      InstanceName=TEST
      SAPWD=sa
      TARGETDIR="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Mssql$TEST\Binn\"
      DATADIR="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Mssql$TEST\Data\"

      Set these in your setup.ini then run setup.exe

      Topper
      * Shamelessly mentioning "Don't forget to add reputation!"
