    Re: License for windowsXP

My understanding of CALs (Client Access Licenses) are they are just for that, they allow a client to be connected to a domain, however my knowledge is a bit sketchy here as there are user CALs and device CALs.

You will need an OS license for each machine you deploy.

Hopefully some one will expand on the CALs for you.

    Regards,

    Richard

Assuming I correctly understand what you are trying to do, you can connect 25 XP Pro systems to your Windows 2003 Enterprise Server (that has 25 CALS). You still need to have licences on the 25 XP systems. The CALS only licence your client machine to access the 2003 Server.
