  • I have a bit of a problem here...

    Well im new here and i dont know much, but i have a problem with my RAM
    Its saying it only has 33MB of RAM (and feels like it too) but my laptop has 256MB
    is it the RAM or the software at fault?
    (i want to know because i dont wanna go out and buy new RAM if its just a new XP install i need)
    MY COMPUTER SPECS:
    Laptop:
    1.6GHz Intel Celeron, Overclocked to 2GHz
    1GB RAM
    40GB HDD
    128MB Intel Graphics
    3x USBs
    Desktop:
    3GHz AMD Phenom x3 (overclocked)
    4GB RAM
    2X 500GB HDDs
    a 512MB ATi Radeon of some description (cant remember lol)
    X - Fi Soundblaster pro sound card
    5X Cold Cathode Case Lights
    12X USBs

    Get an bootable CD which has an memory tester on it (did you check youre memory physically (i.ow. check if it is still correctly placed in it's slot?))

      Where does it say it only has 33MB of RAM? Can you provide a screen shot?

        Maybe your Grahpics Card Memory is sharing and taking Memory from your RAM, but it could be somthing else. You should provide more information.

          its ok now, it was a faulty RAM slot, i have brought 1GB to be sure and put it in the other slot now so its ok, thanks for the help!
