  • XP Pro and login problems

    Greetings,
I have an XP Pro machine that is recently installed and patches. It is joined to our Active Directory. Friday, I was able to log into this machine with a domain user account. This morning, when I logged in as admin, it told me the machine had been updated. When I logged out and tried to login as a domain user, I get the following error:

The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively.

what do I need to change to fix this ?

    thanks.

      No,
this is logging into that machine directly (ie NOT remotely).

          Yes,
but what am I looking to change. User Rights -> The local logon setting ?
If so, it has a warning, but does not allow me to change the values.
          They remain "greyed" out.

If the settings are grayed out in Local Security Policy then they are being set at the domain level through Group Policy. You'll need to speak to whomever manages Group Policy in your network.

Definitely Group Policy like Joe said.

If you are the admin then run RSoP on that computer to see what settings it's getting and from what policy(ies).

As always, GPMC will help you do this very easily

                Hi,

Do you have administrative privilages on your account.

Check you GPO on your server.

May be they need to allow the domain users to log on locally.

                Hope it helps
