  • Log-on to XP Pro Withot entering Password

Until recently I have been able to Log-On to my P.C. without having to enter my password ( My Password is a blank ).

Perhaps due to something I've changed recently , I now get the dialogue asking me for my Password on each Log-On.

I seem to remember this can be overcome by typing some phrase into the RUN space after selecting START. I'm afraid I've forgotten just what this phrase is - can someone please remind me again.

I am the sole user of this P.C. and live at home so I feel there is no need for a Password to be entered on each Boot.

If you are only user on your computer(only 1 account) and not member of a domain,
your PC will start without any need to log.
Just check if there is no more accounts in User Accounts.

There are some reg keys to turn on auto logon in Windows, not sure if it applies to standalone workstations.

They are somewhere under HKML\software\microsoft\windows nt\current version\winlogon if I recall correctly.

You can do a search for keys "AutoAdminLogon" and "ForceAutoLogon" . Make sure they are both set to 1, and that the "Defaultusername" is your username.

You can also use the TweakUI utility available from Microsoft.
