  • Recovering files from missing Offline File Cache

    An awkward one here...
XP Pro SP2 laptop on a domain which i have no access to.
GPO to redirect my documents to server share, so they went into the offline cache.
User (away from the domain) ran out of cached logons so could not get on -- used local admin password (or lack of...)

Changed permissions to give access to domain profile to local admin but nothing in My Documents. Lots of "recent file links" all pointing to the remote server.

    No sign of C:\Windows\CSC folder.

Unfortunately this is a very senior person so I can't just say "serves you right for not backing up"

I have plenty of forensic software and can see some deleted numbered files from the CSC folder, but no idea how to turn them back into "proper" files (mainly doc and xls)

Ideas? virtual :singlemalt: and rep points for anyone who has
