  • Net Use Network Printer W/Password Prompt

I'm needing to create a batch file or script to map the local printer port on a W2K workstation to a printer that is secured in an AD domain; the workstation is not part of this domain however.
From the command prompt, it is a simple matter to enter "Net Use LPT1: \\server\printer /user:domain\username", and the user will then be prompted for a password before the connection is achieved. What I'd like to do, is automate the process by creating a simple one click batch file for the user, that will accomplish the same thing, and which will prompt for a password.

I think if you put exactly what you said (modified for your actual environment) in a .bat (or .cmd) file and double click on it, it will prompt you for the password in a command prompt.
    Give it a go!
