  • Win XP pro and group policy on stand alone system

I have a hand full of systems in a peer to peer network, all running windows xp pro. I would really love to be able to apply group policy settings to those computers but not affect the administrator account. I have looked through microsoft groups and over alot of websites. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Well, it *can* be done, but I would not suggest you to do it.

You need to set up the local GPO, and after doing so go to the C:\WINDOWS\system32\GroupPolicy folder, and configure the administrator account to deny read permissions.

    That should do it.

However, in order to be able to edit the GPO settings you'll need to return to the default permission settings.

thanks so much. I totally agree that this is not the best way to do this, but I would rather block them this way then them screw things up and I have to keep driving an hour onsite to resolve issues. Thanks again.
