  • Extract files from a .EXE file

Need to extract the files from an exe file. I was able to extract files from a .MSI file through cmd prompt. Can a .exe file be done the same way with a different command? Any Suggestions.

The free 7-Zip file archiver can also extract selfextracting-installation files.

Ok. Thanks. I will give it a try.

That 7-ZIP did not work. When I went to extract Error: Setup.exe not a suported archive. This .exe file is for Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro.

First you must run the adobe Reader exe, to extract the msi and cab files.

The windows installer installation files (msi and cab) can then be found in %ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Setup Files\RdrMin\<lang>
You can extract the cab file.
else, can you tell why you want to decompile the exe file?

I have extracted the MSi file and I did extraxt the .cab file also but, those did not have what I was looking for. I am trying to see if the exe file has the PDF Converter driver so I can install it with just reader so I do not have to use up a License installing the whole Acrobat program.

The reader is free for download:

The Adobe's PDF 'creator/editor or distiller' requires a licence!
