I don't know if you tried this but:

    - Right-click an empty area on the Taskbar and select Properties
    - Uncheck Hide inactive icons in the Notification area section

If that's not it, please elaborate on your problem and what you've tried so far.

Are you referring to the Task Bar or the System Tray (Notification Area)? If you are referring to the System Tray (Notification Area), not all applications are written to minimize there.

        Thanks for your Reply

I have tried that options but its not working.

Actually my problem is when i am working i open up multiple windows and when i minimize the windows i cant see them on the taskbar.
I have to use Alt + Tab to get back to the windows which is a bit uneasy.

Kindly help me out in resolving this issue.

        Thanks & Regards
        SAM

Perhaps you could tell us what programs you are using, which one behave strangely and which ones don't, when it started happening, and if there was any changes you made to the system.

Please be as thorough as you can. Pictures would help too.

Re: Windows XP System tray problem

If you have similar applications open and under the "Task Bar and Menu Properties" - " Group Similar Task bar Buttons" option is selected, then it will put them under one taskbar. Not sure if this was your question.

I had the same problem once.
I would open My computer, then minimize it, and it would disappear from the taskbar.

Use this vbscript to fix the problem:
              Code:
'xp_taskbar_desktop_fixall.vbs - Repairs the Taskbar when minimized programs don't show.

              Set WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

Message = "To work correctly, the script will close" & vbCR
Message = Message & "and restart the Windows Explorer shell." & vbCR
Message = Message & "This will not harm your system." & vbCR & vbCR

This is what i was going to post. Excellent piece of scripting from a genius.

I have only one user who has the same issue, only ever this one user, and i don't know what he does to his machine to get it like this.
