  • Deleting all files in a directory launches application instead

    Hello guys,

I encountered following problem. I have a Windows XP SP2, which authenticates to a domain.

When I need to delete files in a local folder (not network) via CTRL-A and hit delete, instead of the files being deleted, they all get opened in an associated application.
For example, if I need to delete 250 Autocad DWG files, Autocad opens 250x each selected file until it crashes. I am deleting them via Explorer.

Same thing happens with MS Office documents. Anybody seen this problem before?

    Your thoughts?

    Thanks

    Hello MrJerry,
Might I be as wild to suggest trying another keyboard or even opening notepad and trying to delete a character there?

Well on to normal troubleshooting, what happens if you try delete one file (skipping the Control-A part)?
I don't know anything about (you or your) computers.
Research/test for yourself when listening to free advice.

What happens if you use CTRL + A then SHIFT + DEL ?
      1 1 was a racehorse.
      2 2 was 1 2.
      1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
      2 2 1 1 2

Or Right Click Select All and then right click delete.

Have you ran a virus scann recently??

        What about a malware/spyware scan??
