      Hello,
You can also try uisng [email protected] Undelete tool. It can boot itself, so as your system can't boot normally and restore data, including your boot.ini file

        Hi Tim.
I removed the url because it's your first post and you're linking to a paid tool.
I don't have time to evaluate every post to see if it's spam or not.

Forgive me if I'm being over cautious.

          Re: boot.ini gone

thanks for advices. I wasn't able to perform the solution JeremyW adviced, as I had no windows disk for my laptop. I then found active undelete and tried it. That worked, as it really booted itself from its disk and then restored the file. Viva

Many OEMs (desktop and laptop) provide no CD's at purchase these days. Have a friend that bought a Vista-ready ACER here in Italy late last year and he got 2 DVD blanks with the machine plus a utility to burn a set of recovery disks should he wish to do so.

So let's not think the worst just yet.

Yeah, i got a PM from Jeremy about it.
It's quite anoying that suppliers don't supply the mediakits.
In many cases like this example it could be illegal, on the other hand, it's not when the suppliers kept the mediakits out of the packages.
