  • Dial-up connection causing Windows 98 to slow

    One of the users has a Compaq Deskpro, running Windows 98, and with a 3Com internal modem. This PC has recently been formatted and reloaded. When data is being transferred over a dial-up connection (to Wanadoo ISP), the mouse pointer flickers like crazy on the screen, making it near impossible to click on something. Also the processing ability on the PC slows right down.
    However, once the connection is terminated, it all goes back to normal.
    Very strange, any thoughts...
