  • Getting PC to remember Log-on Password

I have a desktop and a laptop which I both use at home and use unconnected to any network.

Both have XP Pro installed and both have the same password for log-on.

Some time ago I set the desktop to remember the password and , consequentially, this does so without the Password Log-on dialogue box appearing.

I have only recently acquired the laptop and have just set it up in a similar fashion , but this machine asks for the password at each log-on.

I have forgotten how to set the laptop so that it will also remember the password.

Could someone please remind me how to do this ?

Hmm, I'm dubious about whether you searched or not...

You can also do the following on the XP machine:
1- Start --> Run --> type "control userpasswords2" and hit enter.
2- In the next screen choose the user name you want to auto login, uncheck the box that says "Require ctrl alt del" and click on apply. It will ask you for the users password and you are done.
      Hope this helps.
