  • Recovering files from My Documents

    Hi

I have recently upgraded my PC to a new motherBoard, cpu, memory and hardrive
I tried to to boot from my old hardrive but the it kept crashing. i took it back to the shop where i bought the components and they told me it was because of the new hardware. they tried to fix it but they couldn't. So i had to instal a new xp Professional. i had to create new accounts. Now my problem is that when i tried to copy stuff from MY documents from the old harddrive to the new one it kept saying "Inaccessible, check if the drive is not full or write protected". This specific My documents was password protected on the old OS.

    Can you please help.

Re: Recovering files from My Documents

Have you tried "takeing ownership" of the directory?
Right click, go to properties, security tab then advanced

If the files were encrypted previously, I'm afraid you are FUBARed
