NetLogon is installed as a service when joining the domain I believe (WinLogon is the local logging on service, installed by default with Windows). I would remove the workstation from the domain (both at the workstation and from Active Directory Users and Computers) and then rejoin the domain. It sounds like it didn't join properly anyway, from the information you've given.

      Re: net logon problem

It should be there even when you are not part of a domain.

I believe the net logon service it part of the Client for Microsoft Networks

To install the Client for Microsoft Networks
      1. Open Network Connections (ncpa.cpl from Start/Run)
      2. Right-click the LAN connection, and then click Properties.
      3. Click Install, click Client, and then click Add.
      4. Click Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click OK.
      5. Click OK in each dialog box until all networking properties are closed

Let me see if I can be a little more clear. The Net Logon service does not get installed when you join a domain. It is part of the Client for Microsoft Networks. In fact, XP Home, which cannot join a domain, will have the Net Logon service on it as long as the Client for Microsoft Networks is installed.

Have you checked to see if it is installed?

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand what you are saying.

You said that you tried following what I suggested.
              Was the client already installed?
Did it give an error while installing it?
Have you tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it?
              Regards,
              Jeremy

                  Ah, thanks for explaining.

I would try uninstalling the Client for Microsoft Networks and then reinstalling it.
