  • Locking down IE6

What is the best method of locking down all internet access for users of certain workstation on a network, while allowing access to our intranet site? I still need for the administrator to have access when they log in to access the internet for updates to applications and windows patches. I am looking to only restrict users that log in to specific workstations. Workstations use 2000 & XP Pro with IE6

    Thanks.

Oops. I must've been reading about IIS before hand.

        OP sorry about that.

You can lock down IE6 via GPO or via the Internet Exploer Administration Kit (IEAK)

Else if you are in a small network (one single network)..
          I think
you can remove the default gateway at your TCP/IP config then
use GPO to lock out users to amend it.
When ur administrator need to use it, they will enable and change the TCP/IP config.

But it might not apply to you as we do not know ur deploying environment.

            Re: Locking down IE6

i have lockded down internet access thru logon script using kix32, netsh cmd for setting a false GW, and setting users up in different domain groups. did it this long exagerated way, so that users could still access our intranet and OWA.

              What is OWA?

Do you mean different domain group used different script that will set the default gateway? (fake GW for users, real GW for admin)?
