Acer Aspire laptop series models are best for gaming purposes or not?

  • #2
Possibly - Candy Crush seems to work well on all platforms
Of course if you tell us
    a) the specs (or model) of the actual laptop and
    b) the games you are looking at playing
we might be able to give some more focussed assistance.

You can easily sort this out for yourself. Look at the minimum and recommended specs for the games you wish to play then determine what your budget will be for the new machine.

You should get the best you can afford using the most modern components.

A good graphics card is a must (not on-board - this causes heating issues) if you want to enjoy detailed environments. A good CPU ensures the gameplay is smooth. Plenty of RAM makes sure the game won't suddenly stop with an out of memory error.

If you can afford it, go for a custom build. There are several companies that will build a PC to your own specs and who will offer assistance ensuring you don't end up with a machine that only does half the job.

Above all, ensure the system you buy can have its hardware upgraded and has room for extra PCI devices and hard drives etc. That way, when your graphics card is no longer sufficient you can simply swap it out for a better one. And, if you bought a system with a modern motherboard, you can be sure that a new card will be compatible with it. Same goes for the CPU.

It can be quite daunting entering the PC gaming world as there is a lot of choice.

Post back with any specifics, and as Ossian suggests let us know what your requirements are.

      [Edit]
Just saw you are referring to a laptop. As above, get the best you can afford. Some gaming laptops are not up to the job...
