  • Free Upgrade over...or IS it?

Just did a machine rebuild - old Win7 box that had a replacement HDD and Graphics card. Installed and Activated Win7 SP1 Ultimate (thank you TechNet....) then put in Win10 Build 1511 boot media and installed.

Win 10 shows as "Activated" although I was not asked for a product key in any form

WTF - the free upgrade is supposed to be over

Not with Windows 10 - as far as I know
It was a TechNet Win7 key, so has been used on multiple computers, so maybe another copy got activated

Could just be a glitch, or aparently the upgrade is still free if you use assistive technolgoies (what used to be called accessibility options)
