  • CEH Certified Ethical Hacker

This is a qualification that seems to be gaining some popularity. What are your thoughts on this course track and its recognition in the pen testing fields? Is it as highly regarded as CHFI CISA CISSP and other notable security qualifications or is it seen as a entry level qualification to show basic competences in network security? Discuss.

Well I'm also thinking about this course, however I read different stories.
Some are really loving it, while others found it nonsense and recommend to do CISSP or CISA/CISM.

The problem is CISSP is a security management course. The CEH is i guess a dumbed down version of the CISA/CISM and carries less weight as an industry standard. Iv heard alot of conflicting views about it. Im considering studying the course myself more out of personal interest than extra monetary gain. That being said theres ALOT you can learn from the CEH and im not one to browbeat any qualification.

I was thinking about the same, however to attend the exam you either need to take the course or send some papers to ec-council.
On the other hand I think just to do some study but not taking the exam. Or not yet at least.
By the way, CISM and CISA are also both more a management/officer course.

Correct. I have already aquired my acceptance code to sit the exam with Prometric.

Do not the CISM/CISA deal with the actual principles of security as does the CEH? Or are they just management title course?
