  • Passed MCSE: Security - what's next? CEH?

    Hi,

I finished my MCSE: Security certification about a month ago.

I am now looking for the next certification I should acheive (related to network security).

I found about ECCouncil's Certified Ethical Hacker certification which seems very nice and useful. But after reading this: http://blogs.ittoolbox.com/security/...ification-9639 I'm not so sure so I decided to ask for your opinion.

I live in Israel, and I guess what really matters is how the employers see that certification. But I have no idea how to check that...

Anyway I'm not planning to do any course, just studying at home with CBTNuggets, so I guess there's no reason not to study, but should I take the test?

    Thanks ahead for your opinions,

    Ronen.

If you are going to do the study then there is no reason not to take the test.

    2 2 was 1 2.
    1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
    2 2 1 1 2

      Thanks for your reply.

Do you think of any other network security certification I should try to achieve?

CEH is the only one I know...

Marcel, David & Guy are probably the best ones to answer that question.
Marcel (Dumber) for general security (at this stage), David Davis for Cisco and Guyt for Linux/Redhat.

        Other than that, .

Personally i wouldn't choose CEH. I've heard from them but thats it.
However personally i should look like either to CISSP, Checkpoint or CCSP. It depends on what you're using for you're work.

Are you working with checkpoint firewalls of with Cisco (pix for example)?

Actually, I quit my job last week and now looking for a new job.

I never used Cisco's or Checkpoint's firewalls, only ISA servers (witch are better for my opinion).

I will search google and read about Checkpoint and Cisco certifications.

            Thanks for your opinion!

I would recommend to start with CCNA. I'ts the basics of networking.
And be aware, ISA servers are not explicit better dan Checkpoint. Even, i think that Check Point has more advantages when you compare it with ISA server. ALso Pix has his advantages and disadvantages, like every product i guess
However, this is not the correct place to start a discussion about it

Personally i would recommend the following track when you ask my oppinion:

              CCNA (Cisco)
              CCSA (Check Point)
              CCSE (Check Point)
              CCSP (Cisco)
              CISSP
              Maybe CCIE?? (Cisco)

After you complete this (after a few years) come back and ask for further tracks
