    Hi all,

Those doing CCNA ,Cisco Packet Tracer verion 4 or 5 is very good tool and simulation as well you can use commands as well.

Those want to use Real Router a Home .

Use GNS3 Virtual Real Router after loading the real Cisco IOS..

Downloaded a copy of Packet Tracer ages ago but still haven't found time to use it.

Thanks for the post, I'll have a look over the next few days

Stick to packet tracer 5. If you use GN3 you must purchase copies of the IOS that you want to run. Packet Tracer is much easier to use and far less CPU intensive than GNS3 although GNS is an Open Source equivalent.

Packet Tracer 5 can do some cool things GNS3 can't and vice versa. Packet tracer will allow you to stop all packets and inspect them which can be a nice visual aid in understanding how arp works etc.

GNS3 can do a lot of cool things but it doesn't support Catalyst switches for one thing.
