Mary Branscombe | Bio

Mary has been a technology journalist for more than two decades, writing for magazines, newspapers, and websites. She ran the AOL UK computing channel for five years, and has written about everything from programming languages (Prolog remains a particular favorite) and the arrival of the web to smart lightbulbs and robot vacuum cleaners. She looks back on her days running Novell NetWare networks with almost as much enthusiasm as debugging peer-to-peer cabling by walking around the office with a signal meter, and has used every version of Windows and Office ever released. She's also used almost every smartphone, but she's still looking for the perfect tablet. She still uses the command line, Windows Explorer, and a touchscreen on a regular basis, because using multiple generations of technology simultaneously can sometimes give you the best results. And yes, she really does have USB earrings.
